Moeraki Boulders

Start at 8.30am.

Depart from Dunedin via the steepest street in the world. Follow the coast road to Karitane and Trotter's Gorge native bush reserve into Moeraki, home to remarkable spherical boulders located on the beach. These unique Moeraki Boulders are the subject of documentaries that have received extensive international exposure. Early whalers dubbed them "the ninepins". Take time out to enjoy a stroll by the Moeraki Lighthouse and along the coastline, a haven for yellow eyed penguins and seals. Lunch at Fleur's Place - fresh seafood is the house speciality.
